Rev. Homer Dawkins

Dear Black Clergy, BMCR Family and Friends,

We have received word of the death of the Rev. Homer Clayton "Dutch" Dawkins on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Dutch is survived by his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Raye Shoffner Dawkins; four sons: Tyrone Dawkins (Chantelle), Quenton Dawkins (Margaret), Raphael Sean Dawkins (Roslyn), and Kyle Connell Dawkins (Raleta); eight grandchildren: Marcus, Kiah, Kameron, Jordan, Ryan, Xavier, Natalia, and Dakota; and one bonus grandson, Nathaniel. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jaye. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30am on Monday, October 4, 2021 at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, Greensboro, officiated by the Rev. Rod Ingram. A brief visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:00am. Following the celebration of life service, the Rev. Dawkins will be laid to rest at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N Ohenry Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27405. The family welcomes flowers, though if wishing to send a memorial donation, please designate it to St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 600 E Florida St, Greensboro, NC 27406. Rev. Dawkins' history of service is: 96 Randleman: St Peter's-Ferree's Chapel; 03 Greensboro: Holmes Grove; 10 Withers Chapel; 15 Retired/Withers Chapel; 21 Retired only.
