Notice of Death: Rev. Dr. Theodore A. Powell (Retired Elder)

Birth 1924-Eternity 2020

We have received word of the death of the Rev. Dr. Theodore Allen "Ted" Powell of Hickory, on Sunday, September 27, 2020. He was preceded in death by a son, Adrain Powell. Surviving is a daughter, Suzanne Powell, and extended family. Dr. Powell will lie in repose from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, October 2 at Hartzell Memorial UMC, 465 S Center St, Hickory, NC 28602. Family and friends will be received outside of the church from 6:00-6:30pm.

He can be viewed Saturday, Oct. 3, starting at 12 p.m., at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church, 114 Ellis Chapel Rd., Shelby, NC, with a reception of friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Services for the Dr. Powell will be private. The service will be live-streamed on Ellis Chapel's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ellischapel.baptistchurch) during the Saturday, Oct. 3, celebration of life. Burial will take place at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain. Offer a message of sympathy or share a memory at www.enloemortuary.com.

Dr. Powell was an intricate part of our WNCC BMCR's inception. His love for education, strong leadership, and gifts as teacher and pastor speaks to the legacy he leaves his family, friends and The United Methodist Church.
