We have received word of the death of the Rev. Dr. Theodore Allen "Ted" Powell of Hickory, on Sunday, September 27, 2020. He was preceded in death by a son, Adrain Powell. Surviving is a daughter, Suzanne Powell, and extended family. Dr. Powell will lie in repose from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, October 2 at Hartzell Memorial UMC, 465 S Center St, Hickory, NC 28602. Family and friends will be received outside of the church from 6:00-6:30pm.
He can be viewed Saturday, Oct. 3, starting at 12 p.m., at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church, 114 Ellis Chapel Rd., Shelby, NC, with a reception of friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Services for the Dr. Powell will be private. The service will be live-streamed on Ellis Chapel's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ellischapel.baptistchurch) during the Saturday, Oct. 3, celebration of life.
